Vancouver overview

Vancouver

We offer Vancouver architecture tours guided by local architects and open visits to architecture studios.

Vancouver is one of the most cultural diverse cities in Canada. The city has developed its architecture in response to its temperate climate and adapting it to the natural environment involving the Pacific Ocean, forests and mountains. The Greater Vancouver, the metropolitan area, is the major urban centre of the city and an international hub and the third most populated metropolitan area in Canada.

With a strong connection to nature, the West Coast Modernism, a regional variation of modernism emerged in Vancouver influencing its residential design. It is mainly modern but it presents merging contrasts like The Birks Building in Neo-Classic style or the Burrard Street Bridge built following Art Deco style.

Vancouver’s Downtown, the "City of Glass", has a myriad of residential Towers. The Marine Building is one of the most popular constructions of the city but also the Jameson House, The Crown Life building and the Vancouver Convention Centre’s West Building are well known architectural landmarks for any visiting architect.
